Welcome Mill Creek Neighbors!
SAFETY ALERT!!
There have been several burglaries in Mill Creek over the past few months. In some cases, the burglars entered by breaking the (egress) basement windows when the homeowners were out of town. In those cases, the homes were ransacked, drawers emptied, mattresses overturned, closets emptied and the burglars took electronics, flat screened tvs, and jewelry. In other cases, garages have been entered in the middle of the night and power tools stolen. The police told one homeowner that they think the burglars drive through neighborhoods with a carful of garage door openers and keep clicking until a door goes up.
Most garage door openers have a “vacation” switch that locks the door and blocks entry with a remote. Consider using that at night and/or vacation. Also, I think it would be great if everyone installed a motion light detector on their side garage doors or areas next to basement windows. They can be purchased at Lowes and are fairly inexpensive.
My information is from homeowners that have been robbed. I have a call into our “beat cop” to try to keep everyone up to date with accurate information and should hear back from him when he gets home from vacation.
If anyone has any other ideas, let me know and I will get the word out. Remember, there is strength in numbers!
